- Big excitement this weekend. There were 3 large volunteer efforts going on simultaneously. This team was part of the Yearly Wildwood Cleanup! (Volunteer Effort #1)
- Chris working on Bed # 4 early Saturday. Notice bed #3 above – Jason completed it Friday night!
- Some of the finds during the Wildwood Annual Cleanup.
- Look at the amount of stuff just one pick up truck brings to the Community Centre after trolling the alleyways of Wildwood. It was a monumental effort, going 2 hours later than any previous garbage pick up. Lots of treasures were found during this event!
- Volunteer Effort #2…the Wildwoods Cleanup on the north side of Wildwood Elementary School.
- Happy volunteers working at cleaning up the Wildwoods to the west of our Community Garden.
- Dave comes for a visit to the Wildwood Community Garden.
- Sara and Lee Ann level the bottom of the 5th bed to get ready for the weeping tile. Jason works on building Bed #4 (on the right). Little garden visitor in the foreground checks out our handy work.
- Greg, one our woodworkers, building one of the west beds of the Wildwood Community Garden.
- A look at the empty swales before the weeping tile, gravel and bark get added.
- One more look at the whole site before the swales were filled!
- Action shot of first wheelbarrow of washed gravel being poured over the weeping tile. The Weeping Tile is held in place by a sophisticated mechanism…Carolyn is holding it down with her foot so it doesn’t move side to side or float up as the gravel descends.
- This photo shows the T junctions in the weeping tile as well as the irrigation pipe in the bottom of the main swale and distributaries. Before gravel was added, the pipes were adjusted to run down the middle of the swales.
- Last shot of the garden this weekend. It shows 2 large completed beds at the north end (left), two beds build but not completed, bed 5 almost built, and the closest bed to the camera will wait until the next “Bobcat Event” before we build it. Notice the dendritic (leaf) pattern in the centre and right of the photo. Weeping tile has been added to about 45% of the swales that make up the pattern, gravel covers the weeping tile (light grey material in middle swales) and the bark mulch is the surface material seen here in the bottom left of the photo (brown). What a great weekend to be a Wildwood Community Member!
